Concept Project
The iconic Lobster from the Nike SB Dunk Low series has been reimagined through Bow’l’s interdisciplinary approach. This independent concept project frames sneaker culture not simply as an aesthetic object, but as a narrative-driven and spatial experience.
Origin of the Story
Created in 2009 through the collaboration between Nike and CNCPTS, the Lobster has earned its cult status in sneaker culture. The checkered lining recalls seafood restaurant tablecloths, while the elastic band on the toebox references the protective ties placed on lobster claws. Its warm orange hue evokes the look of a cooked lobster, and CNCPTS did not stop there, releasing blue and purple versions to reflect the natural variety of lobsters.
Bow'l Design Approach
At Bow’l Design Studio, we reinterpreted the Lobster as more than a sneaker, treating it as a contextual cultural object. We envisioned it as if served on a plate, translating its story into a rich visual experience. By extending this approach into spatial design, we transformed the sneaker into a living, interpretable, and reconfigurable narrative. In our hands, space itself became part of the story.
This project offers sneaker culture not just as a visual reference, but as an immersive narrative experience. By merging storytelling, design, and space, Bow’l Design Studio demonstrates its vision of transforming brand identities into powerful and original experiences.
